Melbourne has plenty of great spots to view the sunrise…but if you’re after something a bit special then for the first time ever Eureka Skydeck has opened its doors to the early birds of Melbourne so you can get the highest view of the start of the day.
This event is definitely aimed at photographers with as many tripods as people taking the elevator 88 floors to the top. Lighting is at a minimum to reduce reflection, a decision the tripod owners much appreciated.
On a fine morning you’ll get a spectacular view of the sun coming up over the MCG and probably more than a few hot air balloons gliding across the city, but even on a cloudy morning you will still get great views over the city. Hey, you’re from Melbourne, you are used to unpredictable weather and it won’t spoil your visit!
Note that The Edge experience is closed at this hour but you can still get out into the ‘outdoor’ section and they fire up the coffee machine well before the first shutter button gets pressed.
If you are visiting just to get ‘the shot’ stake out your sunrise spot as soon as you get up there, the east facing windows fill up quickly.
The next sunrise opening is for Thursday 25 February and entry fee is the same as standard hours pricing. For more info go to https://www.eurekaskydeck.com.au/
